Lorelai Kuecker is the 15-year-old quilter behind Pigs in a Blanket Quilting. She began her sewing journey at the age of five. What started as sewing straight lines on her grandmother’s sewing machine turned into unique quilted garment creations! Lorelai is most known for adding quilting where it is not normally found. From bags to clothing, she loves adding pieced flair to all aspects of her life.
For the first two years of her career, Lorelai was focused on improving her technique and completing client quilts to pay off her longarm. By the third year, however, things were starting to change. Not only were Lorelai’s quilts getting more and more creative, but she started quilting other things! For example, when she visited the 2023 Houston International Quilt Market, she made her first quilted jacket, using a vintage clothing pattern! It wasn’t long before she was creating full quilted outfits!
Now, Lorelai is working on so many exciting opportunities! Not only is she learning how to create her own fabric line with Northcott Fabrics, but she is writing a book to teach other young sewists the skills that brought her so much joy. Lorelai’s goal moving forward is to stretch the boundaries of this amazing art form and show other young artists all that is possible through quilting.
