Char Hopeman of The Cotton Cottage Press has been a quilter for over 30 years. Her passion is designing and teaching, and she has lived in the Midwest for most of her life. Her husband and her have two daughters and 4 grandchildren.
As a child she spent many summers visiting the family farm in Iowa. Some of her favorite memories are of staying at her grandmother's little cottage bungalow in town. She had a large garden and loved flowers. She made simple tied quilts for each of them and was very influential in her desire to learn to quilt.
A lot of her design inspiration comes from today's beautiful quilt fabrics, but her passion is really working with old traditional quilt blocks, using today's quilting techniques to make quilts that look and feel like they could have been found in the attic of the old farmhouse.
Char has invented the ZIG-ZAG Ruler that allows you to create a diagonally pieced square without cutting templates by using simple strip-sets. She then designed a series of patterns and projects to use with the ruler. Each of the patterns are suited for the average quilter and have instructions for at least three quilt sizes.
