Lorelai Kuecker

Lorelai Kuecker is the 16-year-old quilter behind Pigs in a Blanket Quilting. She began sewing at age five on her grandmother’s machine, and what started as simple straight lines quickly grew into a passion for creating unique quilted garments. Lorelai is best known for adding quilting where it isn’t usually found—bringing pieced flair to bags, clothing, and everyday life.

Her quilting journey began when she discovered a box of fabric strips cut by her great-great-grandmother. With no instructions, she pieced them together and, with her grandmother’s help, finished her first quilt for her dad. Encouraged by local quilter Janice Kroone, who gifted her patriotic fabric and a used sewing machine, Lorelai went on to create a Quilt of Valor for her mom.

After quilting her first project on Janice’s longarm, Lorelai fell in love with the process. Recognizing her dedication, her parents invested in a used longarm machine, officially launching Pigs in a Blanket Quilting.

After two years focused on building skills and quilting for clients, Lorelai’s creativity expanded into quilted jackets, bags, and full outfits—sparked by experiences like the 2023 Houston International Quilt Market.

Today, Lorelai is developing her own fabric lines with Northcott Fabrics and writing a book to inspire young sewists. Her goal is to push the boundaries of quilting and show the next generation what’s possible through this art form.
